On “Wings” and a Prayer: A Wedding Story

Kelly + Charles  |  Married

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden Wedding

Recently I featured the creative talents of our team member, Ricardo, with Kelly and Charles’s engagement session. Their session was a myriad of wonderful moments captured and I know that Ricardo was so excited for their wedding day to finally arrive.

I had the pleasure of photographing Kelly’s sister, Kimberly, when she was married in 2004. So when I received a call from Kim’s mom that Kelly was next I knew that our studio would have another opportunity to capture all those special moments that make a wedding so memorable.

Look at the way Ricardo has captured Kelly and Charles during their “first look”. It’s such a special moment that captures so much emotion. Really, it is the culmination of months of preparation and anticipation for our bride and groom.

I think someone told these guys about the crocodiles! Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens is an amazingly lush setting of lakes, arbors, wonderful garden paths and vistas of old Florida. Eighty three acres of tropical wonder, the gardens are an inspiration to many a couple in love and was recently the setting for the marriage proposal from Ren to Yarima that we recently featured. This place is akin to the “Garden of Eden”.

I can see that Kelly and Charles are ready to celebrate! Look at the excitement in their faces and the joy of their guests.

Quite often we see special mementos attached to the bouquet. Kelly was very close to her grandfather “Dodo’ and the wings signify that he served in the U.S Navy. On their wedding day it looked as if the heavens were threatening to rain cats and dogs. Kelly is convinced that “Dodo” kept the rain sealed up until after her wedding celebration was over. Thank you Dodo, your presence was felt.

Having three sons, I can only wonder what a Dad feels when he has a daughter. I can imagine Kelly, as a child, dancing with Dad standing on his feet . Now a princess; she and her father are cherishing this moment.

Kelly and Charles are currently on an amazing honeymoon that features stops in Italy and Turkey with a wonderful Mediterranean cruise between these two incredible destinations. Before they left, Kelly received her wedding photographs and wrote me, “I picked up the proofs this morning and I am loving going through them!!! They are amazing!!!”.

Then Kelly’s mom wrote in, “Ricardo, I just finished looking at the pictures of Kelly  and Charles’s wedding. They are simply wonderful. You captured all the moments from start to finish. It was so much fun seeing things I didn’t even see when I was there. We are all so happy and please know once again, how much we enjoyed working with you and Ed. Getting these pictures is the “icing on the cake. With great appreciation, Frances (Mom)”

Congratulations Kelly and Charles!

Now I know there’s one more daughter in this family…

So I am flying high on life–Enjoy
