Miami Wedding Photography: Rachel & Fernando dance the tango!

When we photographed Rachel & Fernando’s engagement session I knew that this was going to be a fantastic Miami wedding experience!

What a great time we had being their Miami wedding photographers! It all started at the beautiful Biltmore Hotel where Rachel & the girls prepared for the wedding. Before we left for the St Francis Catholic Church we took a moment to create some stunning wedding portraits at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. I had one request from Rachel’s Aunt…a stunning bridal portrait that featured the beautiful architecture of this historic location. Check!

Leaving the Biltmore in a soft rain (more good luck), we were then off to St Francis De Sales Catholic Church on Miami Beach. Now mind you the day before you had to walk through the flood that hit South Beach to make it to the church. Well lucky we were…it was beautiful on Miami Beach and it was a beautiful ceremony.

A great first dance choice-the tango-great form!

The wedding reception took place in the Alhambra Ballroom of the Biltmore Hotel…ever notice that the rug in this room is custom made to mirror the beautiful woodwork in the ceiling? Rachel & Fernando started their reception with a tango and the rest of the evening was just one great dance after another…with some yummy food here and there.

Image of the Week: Miami Wedding Photography

As a Miami wedding photographer, it’s so important to have an intimate knowledge of every venue that our Brides and Grooms choose to have their wedding.  After 27 years photographing great weddings in South Florida, there isn’t a place that I haven’t photographed a wedding!

With Melisa & Brian’s Mandarin Oriental wedding, I knew that they wanted this fantastic view of Miami…this view is just outside the ballroom. It was late into the evening and during their Mandarin Oriental wedding reception, there was a moment to sneak these two out for a quiet moment and to get this signature image.

A stunning view as Melissa & Brian enjoy a quiet moment during their wild reception!

Enjoy a great Fourth of July!

Miami Wedding Photography: Patricia & Robert are a very lucky couple.

As a South Florida Wedding photographer for over 27 years, I must say that I have experienced thousands of incredible moments, witness hundreds of traditions that relate to the wedding experience. At Patricia and Robert’s Miami wedding there was a soft rain as Patricia arrived at Plymouth Congregational Church in Coconut Grove…and someone stated that it’s good luck.

Not a setting more romantic than at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden

So I did a little research…thank you Google… It’s good luck! It comes from several cultures mainly from the Hindu with the idea that a wet knot is harder to untie. Since marriage is often referred to as tying the knot. This thought brought back a moment that I experienced many years ago when upon seeing the Bride tearing up because of the rain just before walking down the aisle…a priest of Irish persuasion stated “Don’t you worry my dear…the angels in heaven are crying tears of joy on your wedding day” and with that the bride believed, tears stopped and on we went with their wedding.

So with the gentle tears of the angels, Patricia and Robert married, played in the gardens of Fairchild and celebrated to their marriage and the luck they both share in finding each other!

A special thank you to Marnie Valent at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden for going above and beyond. It was an honor riding shotgun with you in the golf cart as we created some great garden images with Patricia & Robert! By the way, the gardens have a display of Botero sculptures through December. Check it out!

Anticipating and visualizing ”the moment” before it happens goes a long way in creating great wedding photographs. That is exactly what took place with this beautiful image. We had a Palm Beach Mar A Lago wedding and this place is a palace. On our way to the bridal suite I noticed this exquisite stairway and visualized the moment.

In many ways a passage--as the bride glides down this exquisite staircase to meet her groom.

Knowing a venue and all those great little places is what twenty seven years of experience as a Miami wedding photographer will do in creating fantastic photographs that you’ll be sharing with your grandchildren years from now.
