Perez Museum Engagement Session: The “Eyes” Have It! | Sharon + Brian ~ Engaged

Perez Art Museum Engagement Session
Today’s post starts with an engaging Perez Art Museum engagement session! As a Miami wedding photographer, I so enjoy the “how we met” story! This story is so so engaging as the NCAA Finals are upon us! Brian shared the story of how he and Sharon found each other.
“Sharon and I met in Memphis, TN when I was completing my residency in ophthalmology. Coincidentally, Sharon was also in eye care and working in Memphis. While we had never worked together, it turned out that we had several colleagues in common. For our first date, we met at a local bar for drinks on what happened to be the same night as Game 7 of the NBA finals (Heat vs. Spurs). Even though the game was playing in the background and my Heat were about to win a championship, I somehow found myself less interested in the progress of the game and more interested in the girl sitting across from me. As Robin Williams said in Good Will Hunting, “I gotta go see about a girl”.”
Brian continued, “Sharon did a great job preparing for the engagement session. She looked through a bunch of galleries, online, to get ideas on type, locations, and styles for our e-session. The Perez Museum was a place we had looked at previously as a potential wedding reception venue. I think what drew us to Perez were the amazing views of the bay and downtown, the hanging vines, and the architecture with clean wood paneling on the facade of the building. Not coincidentally, our favorite pictures were from this shoot and we used one of them for our save the date card.”
A special Thank YOU! to Kelley Ramer at the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) for an amazing opportunity!
Sharon shared some thoughts on their decision to hire a photographer, “We chose Roy Llera mainly because we both enjoyed the quality of his work. His reputation preceded him. He had done a wedding of one of Brian’s colleagues who had nothing but the highest of praise for Roy. Additionally, during our first meeting with him, we could sense his passion and love for photography, and the professional manner with which he carried himself.”
When I am asked to describe the experience of my engagement sessions, my response is, “It’s a date!”. I usually pick you up and we have a great opportunity to connect during the 2-3 hours that we’ll spend together. Of course, I will create lasting, emotional, and artistic images, and through that experience, we will become connected on a deeper level. I’ll be more emotionally involved on your wedding day and that translates into the amazing moments that I capture ~ because I am feeling it!
Remember, Brian is an opthalmologist, and as we cruised through Wynwood I couldn’t help but notice eyes everywhere! We made good use of Miami’s unique adoration of graffiti!
“Working with Roy on the engagement shoot was fantastic. Roy made us feel at ease quickly and made the whole experience fun and enjoyable. We can’t wait to work with him again on our wedding day.” ~ Sharon and Brian
