Miami Vizcaya Wedding | Ceremony and Reception
“Sposa bagnata, sposa fortunata” ~ A wet bride is a lucky bride (old Italian saying)
I love weddings! Each one has its own personality and challenges. At Alexis and Joey’s wedding we had a “little bit” of rain. We were in the gardens taking portraits and the heavens opened up. We all made a mad dash for the mansion, a little wet but happy to not have been soaked. Experience tells me to always have a back up plan. We made our way to the Tea room and I continued to create amazing portraits.
Within moments the rain stopped. As the sun shone through the stained glass windows, I could tell by the smile on Alexis’ face that her dream wedding was about to come true. She had her heart set on having her wedding outside in the gardens. “It was magical the way the rain stopped right before the ceremony”.
Alexis and Joey’s Miami Vizcaya wedding had all these wonderful moments and so much more. A wedding at Vizcaya is absolutely breathtaking. Built in 1916 the estate features 16th-century art and architecture. This ornate mansion, which took 1,000 artisans 5 years to build, became a celebration of that period. It is one of my favorite locations to photograph in South Florida.
What is it that I love about a Vizcaya wedding? There’s this wonderful romantic vibe that resonates throughout. I know every wonderful staircase, archway and architectural detail that makes for beautiful settings for wedding photographs.
What Dad doesn’t think of this special moment soon after the birthday of his daughter?
Alexis pausing for a tender moment during the ceremony, so glamorous.
Alexis’s thoughts about their first dance. “Spinning around on the black and white dance floor, looking at how my dress sparkled. Feeling like Joey and I had were having the best time together as if no one else was there!”
Alexis & Joey were looking to create an experience of 1920’s Hollywood style, glamorous with a touch of “bling”! The Joy Wallace Catering, Design and Production Team performed to perfection, Alexis and Joey’s dream wedding was perfect! This affair will have family and friends reflecting on their wedding for years to come.
