Temple Judea Coral Gables The Ocean Club Wedding

I love getting to know my couples ~ how they met, fell in love, how he proposed ~ I am intrigued by love and the relationships that bond because of this magical feeling. So the opportunity to create some great images is for me an ideal time to connect with each couple that have entrusted to me their wedding memories. Below is a description of Jeremy’s guide to the perfect proposal!

Step 1: Take her to an activity that she loves (example: walking in a nearby park in the moonlight)

Step 2: Suggest they take puppies (if you don’t have puppies, you should borrow some!)

Step 3: Propose in the park with the puppies as perfectly behaved witnesses!

As described in the guide above ~ Jeremy did take Deborah for a romantic walk with the family dogs on a moonlit evening ~ something that Deborah just loved! Now imagine Jeremy’s thought process ~ ring burning a hole in his pocket ~ he’s about to ask the most important question he has ever asked to his best friend! Looking for just the right moment to look into his loves eyes, get down on one knee and ask “Will you marry me?” Deborah’s response after a little screaming and crying ~ YES!

We are so looking forward to an amazing time at their upcoming wedding at Temple Judea in Coral Gables and what I know is going to be a blast of a reception at the Ocean Club!

Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden Wedding

en·gage·ment (ěn-gāj’mənt) n.

1. The act of engaging or the state of being engaged
2. Betrothal
3. Something that serves to engage; a pledge.
4. A promise or agreement to be at a particular place at a particular time.

How does the dictionary define “engagement”?  If you read the above, all four definitions can apply to the commitment that a relationship involves. The promise of being a couple, there for each other, engaged in the day to day flow of life ~ the simplicity of a caress ~ to love notes whether written or sent via text ~ they are forms of being engaged with each other.

I used to think once that you’re married, you’re not engaged anymore. But now that I think of it, you’re always engaged in life together. Kelly and Charles are engaged to share life and love for the rest of their lives together and very soon they’ll be married but still engaged in life – together.

Ricardo had a wonderful engagement session with Kelly and Charles. This Saturday at the beautiful Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden they will be saying their “I Do’s”. Needless to say Ricardo had a great time photographing these two and can’t wait for Saturday to get here! Come to think of it, I’ll bet that Kelly and Charles along with family and friends are looking forward to engaging in an amazing wedding.

You ever live a moment and later reflect back on that time and see the signs that should have told you what was coming? When Alexis asked Ashlee–why she loved him–was just that time. Only Ashlee didn’t see this sign. A sweet response and a glance away to reflect on the light as the day came to an end–Ashlee turned back “to the man that would change her life forever”.

On one knee, Alexis asked if “I would spend the rest of my life with him.” Caught completely off guard, Ashlee was in absolute shock. She actually thought this day would never come and I wonder how many of you have thought the very same way?

“I stood there, wanting to shout “YES!” but all I could say is “What is going on?”. Through the crying and shaking, I nodded my head and smiled — and with that, he put the engagement ring on my finger.”

Ashlee and Alexis will be getting married very soon at the beautiful Coral Gables Congregational Church with reception to follow at Comber Hall. I am so excited to have met this amazing couple and I am really looking forward to photographing their South Florida wedding!

It’s amazing what can happen when three people get together for an afternoon of fun. As we stepped out on Las Olas Blvd, Brandt confided to me-he wasn’t all that thrilled with having his picture taken but being the  stand up guy that he is, he gave his all and showed Kendall how much he loves her. After hearing how he proposed, this comes as no surprise. I asked Kendall to share this story with me so I could share it with you.

“So I got ready and asked where we were going and he said it was a surprise, thinking nothing of it at all I just went with the flow.  We get in the car and pull up to the Emerald Grande.  At this point I am very confused and don’t know what is going on but very excited because I know they have a ton of restaurants and bars attached.”

“We park the car and enter into the elevator and Brandt pushed PH (penthouse).  Now I am really curious.   We get out of the elevator and he opens the door.  The room is dark with rose petals scattered on the floor, tea candles everywhere, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne on ice, chocolate covered strawberries, and Michael Buble playing in the background.  I was speechless and the view was incredible.  Overlooking the ocean and finally the rain had stopped.”

“After taking everything in, Brandt popped the bottle of Champagne and poured both of us a glass.  We toasted and Brandt said “This toast is to the best three years of my life, I love you and I am so happy I found you”

“Aww, I was still in shock of everything he had done for our Anniversary and I had only bought him a CD.  He sure showed me up!  We continued to drink our glass of champagne, enjoy the music and of course enjoy the view!“

“Brandt then poured the second glass of champagne.  He toasted and said, “Now this toast is to the rest of our lives, Kendall will you marry me?”  Brandt pulled the ring out of his pocket and got down on one knee. I began to shake and could not believe what was really happening.  It was perfect, it was magical, it was romantic!  I will never forget that moment and all the feelings that were going on at that time when we made that last toast!”

I was so happy to hear what Kendall had to say after seeing her engagement photos: “I am so excited to have you be part of our special day!” and we are thrilled that we’ll be at your Ritz Carlton Ft Lauderdale wedding too!

Kendall’s Mom shared her feelings with me after seeing the slide show: “I just saw the slide show of Kendall’s & Brandt’s engagement pictures—-they were absolutely amazing—they brought tears of joy.  I was so happy to see your creativity as a photographer bring those photo’s together to tell the story.  I LOVED THEM. The beach pictures are beautiful actually, they are SPECTACULAR!!!!”

As weddings are each a unique display of love and commitment, how couples become engaged are wonderfully creative and as a Miami wedding photographer I love to hear how the “How did he ask you to marry him?” story. Well Eryn and Andrew’s engagement story is absolutely brilliant!

“Andrew worked with almost everyone in my life to pull off the world’s greatest surprise! My boss Karen and my co-worker Peggy tricked me into going to the Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne in order to find a replacement venue for our holiday party, because they told me that our current venue had a flood. Well once I got to the Ritz I was taken on a tour of different ballrooms only to find the last room covered in flowers, champagne, chocolate covered strawberry’s and Andrew on one knee! He told me that he loved me very much, he wanted to spend the rest of my life with him and would I marry him? Of course I was jumping up and down and said yes right away!!! We popped open the champers and celebrated all weekend long!!!”

This is the image that graces their amazing “Save The Date” card.

Life is a “beach’!

These two could be on a cover of a romance novel!

As I was thinking what to say…I thought what does the dictionary say about the word “engagement”?  If you read the above…all four definitions can apply to the commitment that a relationship involves. The promise of being a couple, there for each other, engaged in the day to day flow of life…the simplicity of a caress…to the love notes sent to each other via texting…they are forms of being engaged with each other.

But then being engaged is the very art of life…throughout our lives we’re engaged with our parents, grandparents, our siblings…our friends…even our pets.

Love that foot action...

So Maria & Ernesto are engaged to share life and live for the rest of their lives together and very soon they’ll be married but still engaged in life…together.

I used to think once your married your not engaged anymore…but now that I think of it…you’re always engaged in life together…I like this thought!

so much so that when she found out that she was headed to Veterinary Med School; she had to have some great portraits of her babies. We met at Juno Beach where they allow dogs to run on the beach! It was wonderful to see how many dog lovers were strolling along the beach.

As for Kristal’s acceptance into Veterinary school; this is big. Having a son, Dr. Ryan Llera, a veterinarian at Hollywood Animal Hospital, I know all to well how difficult it is to get into Vet Med. Congratulations Kristal!
