So often I remind our wedding couples to enjoy their day, to slow down and just take it all in. Months of planning and the day finally gets here and before you know it along comes the last dance. But to cherish each moment with purpose, to be in that moment is important so that when viewing your photographs the moments will replay in your mind triggered by the image. As Miami wedding photographers we are passionate about capturing the many moments that comprise your wedding day as all you have after this amazing day are the photographs.

Happy anniversary to you both Elizabeth and Robert! It was a year ago today that Elizabeth took this amazing walk with her Dad to marry the love of her life, Robert in the beautiful St Jude Catholic Church on Brickell.

One of the most touching moments in a reception is when the Bride dances with her Dad. You know that as a little girl she danced with Dad balanced on his feet as he swept her across  the floor. It’s a very emotional moment for the parents!

The ballroom at the Westin Colonnade is a unique space that as you can readily see makes for an amazing wedding experience!

Ritz Carlton Coconut Grove Wedding

Marriage is about love and a new beginning. The opening chapter to a life of adventure, challenges and the rewards of living a life with the love of our life. Before every newly married couple is a book yet to be filled with the story of two lives brought together. What their story is nobody knows ~ but with every anniversary, every child born, vacations taken and the ups and downs of life,  this book will develop into a marvelous story of lives lived.

For us as photographers we realize that we are illustrating this wonderful new beginning. As years pass, the images will take on a life of their own with children and grandchildren marveling with joy at seeing Mom in her wedding dress and Dad with such emotion as he married their Mother. The photos will provide an anchor to the joy, respect and love that their parents feel for each other and the love they feel for those around them.

They’ll see in the image below, their great grandmothers sharing in the joy of being witness to another chapter in their lives beginning as their grandchildren begin theirs.

Generations will understand the beginning of their marriage is anchored in love for God and their Jewish faith. The caress of Rabbi Bookman’s blessings ~ prayers ~ a foundation of strength to begin their lives together.

Just married and the exuberant expressions of “just married” across their faces says so much.

The excitement and beauty of a Bride as she is raised during a Hora with her beloved ~ in  a sense spiritually supported by the community of family and friends ~ a moment truly shared between them a she looks into his eyes with pure joy!

The moment that 2011 ended and 2012 began and I am reminded of the New Years Eve scene in “When Harry Met Sally”  “And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it’s not because I’m lonely, and it’s not because it’s New Year’s Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.” Harry Burns ~When Harry Met Sally”

5,4,3,2,1 Happy New Years!!!! This moment is so indicative of the celebration that we experienced that night. Carefully look at this image ~ it’s so tells the story!

Four Seasons Miami Wedding

We are amazed with all the beautiful weddings that we get to photograph and all the amazing moments that we get to capture at each one of these events! As photographer we are so blessed to experience love, joy and your history in the making. Well Sarah and Matthew’s Jewish wedding was a joy to photograph from the beauty of  Moms, Dads and Grandparents experiencing the love of their lives take the next step in life to an intimate Ketubah signing, a joyful ceremony and one incredible party!

Love this moment between Sarah and Mom ~ a real moment captured by a sensitive eye. Quite often I ask my Brides ~ are you looking for fantasy or reality? The answer I get from those Brides that choose us is “reality”. Their looking to have captured those subtle moments, the moments that mean the most that are not so obvious.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fantasy and whimsy in the images that we create! I just love this sweeping vision of beauty ~ a lightness of being “beautiful”. Now when the above image was taken, so was the one below!

A great little detail captured by Cristobal ~ truly an intuitive stroke of artistic genius!

When I tell you anything can happen at a wedding and how we are always ready to get that moment ~ another great image by Cris!

Would you believe this is the valet parking area of the Four Seasons Miami…this hotel is one of my favorite place to photograph ~ there’s so many wonderful visuals to work with!

These guys are truly into the moments and definitely love the camera!

Ritz Carlton Fort Lauderdale Wedding

So often we gets notes of appreciation from the Bride but to receive one from the Groom is rare! This note was sent to Sarah Sherman (wedding coordinator at the Ritz Carlton Ft Lauderdale) and myself.

“My two best friends:

 I received the proofs today, so guess I should call my therapist and tell him its time I work on some sort of closure.  The fact remains, the most beautiful wedding in the world is over.  My experience at the Ritz, which I can now see captured in Roy’s beautiful photographs, have turned those fast fleeting minutes into moments and have made my honeymoon seem second class.  I don’t know if I should thank you both or complain because you guys made my expectations of any other hotel or event unrealistic.”

 ”In all seriousness, I just wanted to thank you guys. I wish I could take some sort of credit, but, as you know, I did absolutely nothing to for the wedding.  After seeing Roy’s pictures this afternoon, I know that I could have only messed things up so maybe it’s better that way.”

“It’s funny……I received the same advice from at least 10 people prior to coming down to Florida:  “Something will go wrong at your wedding.  Just make sure not to freak out.”  In hindsight, that was the worst advice ever.  Someone should have asked me to break in my Gucci shoes before I danced for 6 hours because Sarah, you helped make my wedding an absolute fairytale, and Roy, your pictures transformed my fairytale to a form that I will view for years to come, but my feet still hurt.”

“I don’t know how the wedding industry works, but I assume recommendations can’t hurt.  Roy, my wife (it’s still weird to say that) and I are beyond pleased with your work.  I usually hate taking pictures but you really were awesome to work with and the shots I have seen are AMAZING.  There are at least 50 pictures that I want on my coffee mug.”

Needless to say I was beyond speechless when I read this wonderful note from Jonathan! Sort of how I feel at most weddings ~ grateful for the moments that I get to capture for the Bride and Groom, their families and those future generations that have yet to arrive.

As a wedding photographer, I experience some of the most moments over and over again ~ witnessing and documenting the most important day in the lives of lovers and those that love them. Totally aware that they have trusted in me and our team to photograph all the actions and reactions between themselves, parents, family and friends ~ to document a dream of a day that is their reality!

One of my favorite experiences in a  wedding day is the recessional ~ nothing says “We’re married” so well as in this moment that they turn, face all those that are special to them and start life as husband and wife! Kari wanted a romantic, natural look, so she wore her hair down and chose a beautiful Anne Barge gown of layered tulle.

I touched briefly on the action/reaction and the image above is a wonderful example of the reaction to a toast being given in their honor.

Damn we all had a great time at this wedding!

Lima Peru Wedding

Recently I shared with you Paola + Marko’s wedding and in that post I asked the question ” So who does a Bride that is a wedding professional choose to photograph her own wedding?” Today I am going to share with you Adriana and Juan’s Lima, Peru wedding experience ~ So photographing a wedding where both the Bride and Groom are photographers raises the level of expectations up just a notch…

Wanting to create amazing images with every wedding, I researched online for locations that personified Lima. The Convento de San Francisco is one of those exquisite offerings! I read where vendors would feed the hundreds of pigeons and in turn would sell corn meal to the visitors to feed the birds! I knew that I wanted to photograph Adriana and Juan running through a flock of pigeons in front of this beautiful church! I think I succeeded in getting that shot!

Timeless images are a standard of this studio and we successfully create images that will forever be a cherished heirloom ~ think about it ~ you want exquisite photographs that years from now will bring those feelings of love, joy and excitement that you felt in the moment!

Imagine the experience Dad had ~ walking with his daughter on his arm down the aisle and give her to the new love of her life with a twist ~ Adriana’s Dad built the church! Take a look at the slide show at the end of this Blog post to get a sense of the beautiful setting that he created for his baby!

Now this 1930 Packard Sedan Limousine was simply perfect ~ like new! Now if you think traffic in Miami is crazy…not compared to traffic in Lima! The chauffeur drove this beauty through the streets like he owned the town ~ I was in the front seat during the trip to the church and my heart passed the stress test!

Inspiration is a wonderful drug! Adriana and Juan so trusted us to create and create we did! What you don’t see is a couple of hundred visitors to Plaza Mayor that got quite a show seeing a Princess run into the arms of her Prince ~ this wedding was like a fairytale!

The party was an elixir of delight as family and friends swooned under a magical evening of music, fireworks, confetti and lots of love!

Acqualina Resort and Spa Wedding

I remember when I first met April and Jarrod a few months before their wedding; they were excited about their wedding and wanted to make sure they had the right connection with their wedding photographer. In all honesty, you are putting your full trust in a person who is going to be recording these valuable memories and at the same time you want to be comfortable and at ease with the person who is going to be there with the two of you all day!  I felt we all hit it off and being at their wedding was a true joy for me, as I know it was for them as well.

April and Jarrod were married at the Acqualina Resort. It’s a gorgeous resort with amazing locations for photos, as well as having one of the most beautiful beach views any hotel has to offer! The couple had a very intimate and private event and I wanted to make sure that the first time they saw each other was reflective of their day.

From the cold state of Washington, having their ceremony on the warm beaches of Miami just made sense to April and Jarrod! The weather was amazing and the beach was a great backdrop for their guests, who were also all from out of town. It was important for their wedding to be simple and carefree and through their photos, you can tell we succeeded in achieving that!

I had a lot of great moments with April and Jarrod! We had a great time creating fantastic portraits around the property that really reflected their personalities.

It was a beautiful night!

Ritz Carlton South Beach Wedding

Weddings are the uniting of two people who met, found love in each other and decided to commit their lives together. In the same light, it’s a family union where different families are united because of the marriage and this is where the fascinating blending of customs and cultures culminate in an incredible wedding experience! Now with Kiran and Sebastine this fusion of Pakistani and Nigerian culture is to me what is so exciting about weddings ~ they’re each a unique moment in lives touched by love!

Now the night before the wedding was a mendhi celebration ~ it was amazing watching the men bring Kiran to the setting where she was united with Sebastine. It was during the initial moments that the ritual of family greeting the soon to be married couple with love, affection and food! Enjoy the slide show below!

What an amazing night and it wasn’t the wedding celebration! So the next day is a blur of moments where words are spoken, loving glances given and emotions that are off the charts wonderful! The image below is that moment for Kiran and Sebastine where they saw each other for the first time as husband and wife to be!

Kiran was stunning in a beautiful saree ~ the detail, beading and attention to the jewelry only enhanced a beautiful  Bride!

As I have stated many times before ~ weddings are made in the myriad of details that over the months leading to the wedding day are carefully decided on one at a time. Those details are carefully noted by my team and we make sure to photograph it all!

As numerous are the details, imagine the experience for a photographer to capture the moments of love, laughter and joy that present themselves at each and every wedding ~ I can tell you that over 20 years of experience gives me such an advantage. My intuition kicks in and it’s as if I can see the moment unfold moments before it actually happens and successfully these moments are captured!

Vizcaya Miami Museum and Gardens Wedding

When I first met Anne Marie, I was met by this warm, charming energetic Bride that just radiated positivity! That same energy and spirit really helped her plan the perfect wedding for her and Todd, her fiancé. From the start, Anne Marie was extremely organized, and I really appreciated that because from the engagement session to the wedding day, things ran as smooth as they possibly could on such a hectic event! For those of you who are already married, you know what I mean!

As a wedding professional, I make sure that all my bride’s details are my first priority. I am always available to talk about their day and that gives us the opportunity to take full advantage on the wedding day. Knowing what kinds of photographs Anne Marie and Todd were looking for really helped me deliver exactly what they envisioned while allowing me to showcase my creativity as well. It also helped soothe their minds knowing that everything has been taken care of and that they could enjoy the wedding experience they were about to have!

Anne Marie and Todd were married in the breathtaking gardens of Vizcaya. If you’ve been there before, you know that just about anywhere you are in those gardens you can feel the air of romance! It really lends itself to the wedding itself; and being that both Anne Marie and Todd are so in love, it was the perfect setting for them.

As a Bride you can see that there are so many photographers to choose from! You look at many beautiful websites, read their Blogs, get advice from your girlfriends who have been there, check out the internet reviews and ask those wedding professionals that you are working with be it a planner, catering director, or florist that have an insiders view of the best of the best! So who does a Bride choose to photograph her wedding when she herself  is a wedding professional? I can say that in the last 8 months four of those wedding professionals chose Roy Llera Photographers!

When Paola, the Catering Manager at the Four Seasons Miami asked that I be at her wedding to capture their moments ~ I was thrilled! So started a creative process that I bring with me to every wedding ~ to seize every moment as they present themselves naturally but to also craft a few special images that comes from being a visual artist.

With my partner, Stella Hernandez we knew that their were going to be opportunities for amazing images that with experience you know where you need to be. Stella was right on point as this moment unfolded ~ just love the movement of the veil, her Mom by her side making sure that everything is as perfect for her baby girl as can be, the architecture of Coral Gables Congregational Church as it frames this image so beautifully.

The joy and clarity in Marko’s eyes, the expression of wonder on the Pastors face as he listens to vows spoken, commitments made.

As a visual artist, I knew that I wanted to capture the grandeur of the Biltmore Hotel as an amazing backdrop for Paola and Marko’s wedding formals. You’re probably wondering “formals?” when you look at the next two images. I knew what I wanted to create and with a little direction and setting the mood we crafted some lovely portraits that just look like I happened upon a moment!

Now the day before the wedding, I spent some time with the guys on the golf course and I discovered an exquisite building from another time in the Biltmores history ~ I was so excited to find this jewel of a setting that I started to imagine what I would create in this setting! I knew that after the wedding that I would have about 15 minutes before we had to get to a party. We arranged for golf carts to be waiting for us and as the sun was setting together we created this and many more stunning images!

A good friend upon looking at this photograph told me that the image and especially the reflections in the water reminded him of a Monet painting. In many ways the photographs created in a lifetime is the canvas upon which a life and these amazing moments are remembered.

Now here’s a great twist to this wedding story ~ Marko created their wedding cake! Isn’t that cool! Marko is the Pastry Chef at the Four Seasons Miami ~
